Here is something from the comic side of John Mayer. It was once his welcome message on his Myspace page. It recently resurfaced after a fan commented about some advice he shared during a recent version he performed of his Battle Studies song “Half of My Heart”. It is yesterday’s mp3 of the day. Thanks to Debbie for digging it up from the archives.

John Mayer performed a stellar concert at the Hammersmith Apollo venue last evening in London,UK to a crackling audience. Here is a sampling of reviews:
This was the 3rd Mayer gig I’ve been to - and this one just felt so much more heartfelt than the others! I first saw him in the Albert Hall back in 07 and that was such a wicked show - but then I saw him at the Carling academy last year in Birmingham and much preferred that gig because of how much more intimate it was. But tonight’s one was out of this world!! Gravity just had me gripped from start to finish, so so powerful, and played from the heart. Flippin brilliant John!

I have to agree with the other posters, this was one of the best gigs I have been to of John’s. Saw him in ‘03 in Houston Texas, then at the Royal Albert Hall ‘07, Brixton Academy and Hard Rock Calling ‘08, but this was the first time I have really seen him connect and really enjoy himself on stage.
His solos were absolutely mind blowing - Vultures and Gravity particularly. Steve Jordon’s drum solo was spectacular!!!!! Crossroads was fantastic live, much better than the album version (as we all suspected it would be). I thought Half of my Heart was pretty weak live actually, was GUTTED he didn’t play Edge of Desire, absolutely devastated, and am considering going to Wembly just for the chance to see this live. Although, it’s a real shame he is playing Wembly its so big, I fear he will stop playing the smaller venues, which are so intimate.
I tried really hard to remember the set list as it went on, but I just got very engrossed, so forgive me if I have left things out, and am sure some songs are the wrong way round….
Heartbreak Warfare Vultures Crossroads Why Georgia (I want you back) Perfectly Lonely I Don’t Trust Myself Bigger Than My Body Half of My Heart Waiting on the World to Change Belief Gravity Stop this train, into Who Says Free Falling Friends, Lover or Nothing
He signed loads of autographs during the end of F,L or N and then used the pen as a kind of capo which was funny. He was so excited and jumping around at the end, like a little kid, he didn’t want to leave the stage, you could tell, and made everyone bow a good few times. He was absolutely beaming.
It was a really great night. I didn’t have any issues with the crowd I was standing with, everyone was really friendly. I was surprised at how many guys were there, with their (bored) girlfriends, perhaps the guys didn’t bother pushing to the front so much as I was towards the back. It was the first gig I have been to where I was surrounded by more men than women, and god did they love him!! When he took off his over-shirt you could literally feel the temperature rise, lol! His voice was the best I have heard it live too.
I think he is in his element at the moment, I think you are all in for an amazing tour if last night was anything to go by, and I wasn’t going to go to Wembly, but I think I just have to see it all over again (this time with Edge of Desire…PLEASE JOHN???)!!!

After the show Mayer stops to sign autographs… all bundled up in an Alife jacket. He looks warm, doesn’t he? I hear the weather was a bit frosty over there,(brrrr) but that his performance was incredible and had the audience fired up!
