Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” Captured in John Mayer’s Guitar Solo at Today’s Memorial
As John played the focus remained on the music of Michael Jackson. He gave a soft yet compelling jazz version of Human Nature a hauntingly beautiful song from the Thriller album, one of my favorites. The rendition left one wanting more by way of an encore of this and other songs performed during the service.
Sadly, Jackson’s untimely and sudden passing also left this, and most certainly, other fans wanting an encore performance of his life… a wish we know will not be fulfilled during this lifetime. This somber reality became even more evident at the end of the memorial service when a circle of light was left to illuminate the area surrounding the microphone, a spot on stage where Michael would have stood. It was clear at that moment Michael was indeed gone…and would not be coming back.
Farewell and rest in peace, “King of Pop”, proclaimed “World Humanitarian” later in the service by Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee on behalf of the Congressional Black Caucus. We will miss you.
