Tuesday, July 10, 2007(Reprinted February 20,2008) Live Earth Part I-The Seven Point Pledge: A Panoramic View For Effective Environmental Action?(Revised 7.13.07)
The Live Earth 7 Point Pledge

I PLEDGE:
1. To demand that my country join an international treaty within the next 2 years that cuts global warming pollution by 90% in developed countries and by more than half worldwide in time for the next generation to inherit a healthy earth; 2. To take personal action to help solve the climate crisis by reducing my own CO2 pollution as much as I can and offsetting the rest to become “carbon neutral;” 3. To fight for a moratorium on the construction of any new generating facility that burns coal without the capacity to safely trap and store the CO2; 4. To work for a dramatic increase in the energy efficiency of my home, workplace, school, place of worship, and means of transportation; 5. To fight for laws and policies that expand the use of renewable energy sources and reduce dependence on oil and coal; 6. To plant new trees and to join with others in preserving and protecting forests; and, 7. To buy from businesses and support leaders who share my commitment to solving the climate crisis and building a sustainable, just, and prosperous world for the 21st century.
Today with “Live Earth” nearing one year old and “Rothbury” ahead of us,I thought I’d lift up a this podcast reflection from a blog dated July 10,2007 which examines the Live Earth Seven Point Pledge.Click icon below to listen.

Both masters of their respective instruments and musicians who have proven “hearts of gold” ,what a treat to view John Mayer and Stevie Wonder, two of my musical heroes, performing together for a good cause. The special performance took place at the Nokia Theatre on December 17,2007 in Los Angeles at Stevie Wonder’s 12th annual House Full of Toys holiday charity show. It doesn’t get any better than this…Those two together on the same stage. DRH was there also. Enjoy!

John Mayer, Metallica, Tom Waits, and Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder are among the artists that will join Neil Young for his 21st annual Bridge School Benefit concerts on Oct. 27-28. Also on this year’s bill are Tegan and Sara, Regina Spektor and Jerry Lee Lewis.(more…)
The Bridge School Benefit is an annual non-profit charity concert held in Mountain View, California every October at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. The concerts are all organized by musician Neil Young and his wife, Pegi.
Proceeds benefit the Bridge School, which assists mentally and physically handicapped children.
The first concert was in October 1986, and, with the exception of 1987, the concert has been held every year since. It is known for having a relatively high-profile lineup and strong performances, probably due to Neil Young’s extensive connections within the music industry. As a practice, but not a rule, the performers use acoustic instruments. Young also personally performs every year(more).

…Reflections
Cynthia D. Wilson,Revcoolc, the affable Heavier Octaves’ station host shares how her perspectives were heightened both spiritually and physically as she offers this inspiring and thought provoking post concert reflection.
Virginia Tech is a school which sits high in the Blue Ridge mountains. She had no idea the campus was so high in elevation or as geographers would say, above sea level. The thought hadn’t occurred to her until she was actually en route in the Smart bus and began witnessing the surrounding and spiraling landscape. She also began experiencing a slight degree of lightheadedness as the vehicle in which she was being transported from the city of Roanoke to the isolated community of Blacksburg, ascended the mountain.
She had traveled many miles from New York City to her final destination to attend the Concert for Virginia Tech headlined by Dave Matthews,John Mayer,Phil Vassar and Nas as a minister, avid John Mayer fan and citizen journalist. She recalls it as a heartwarming event and truly an experience which unified a college town, while heightening her consciousness and physical location.
Not only did she experience the “healing” of a community through music, but became a willing participant in its revival as she witnessed it overcome trauma through the spirit of resiliency and “profound fun” generated by this concert. The entire event could be perceived as a creative prayer for healing and restoration of a community traumatized and grief stricken by the unfortunate events of April 16,2007,which claimed the lives of over 30 of its members.
In this podcast episode, she shares post concert reflections as well as a play list of “Hokie Spirit” exhibited during the concert.
Enjoy!
