Chicks in Full Grammy Harmony The Heavier Octaves Profile Song of the Week slot goes to the Dixie Chicks’ “Not Ready to Make Nice”. And.believe it or not,it is not because they walked away big winners at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night by taking home miniature replicas of five(5) gilded gramophones. There is no doubt that the record is high quality and they are fine, talented and skilled musicians. I’ve been a fan for a while simply for those reasons. No,their song is the pick, because of the underlying reason–the recording industry, their musical peers and community sang through and along with them on the scale of humanity.Their sweep at the Grammy Awards is viewed as a “win for the people.” To learn more about this controversy and its relation to “Bush” and the Iraqi War,and the death threats received by the Dixie Chicks after making public statements about Bush at a concert in London three (3) years ago, click here… In harmony the artist community “sang” a very powerful tune of unity and solidarity that was so magnificent it just can’t be completely reduced to words. That is the kind of “song” that needs to resound for a very long while,as an example of the “good harmony” music can accomplish. “Not Ready to Make Nice” represents our right to speak freely and to do so peacefully, employing music as a creative force of construction. We should all join in singing the chorus… Peace, Revcoolc p.s. take the time and take a close look at the lyrics below Artist/Band: Dixie Chicks Lyrics for Song: Not Ready To Make Nice Lyrics for Album: Taking The Long WayForgive, sounds good. Forget, I’m not sure I could. They say time heals everything, But I’m still waiting I’m through, with doubt, There’s nothing left for me to figure out, I’ve paid a price, and i’ll keep paying I’m not ready to make nice, I’m not ready to back down, I’m still mad as hell And I don’t have time To go round and round and round It’s too late to make it right I probably wouldn’t if I could Cause I’m mad as hell Can’t bring myself to do what it is You think I should I know you said Why can’t you just get over it, It turned my whole world around and i kind of like it I made by bed, and I sleep like a baby, With no regrets and I don’t mind saying, It’s a sad sad story That a mother will teach her daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger. And how in the world Can the words that I said Send somebody so over the edge That they’d write me a letter Saying that I better shut up and sing Or my life will be over I’m not ready to make nice, I’m not ready to back down, I’m still mad as hell And I don’t have time To go round and round and round It’s too late to make it right I probably wouldn’t if I could Cause I’m mad as hell Can’t bring myself to do what it is You think I should I’m not ready to make nice, I’m not ready to back down, I’m still mad as hell And I don’t have time To go round and round and round It’s too late to make it right I probably wouldn’t if I could Cause I’m mad as hell Can’t bring myself to do what it is You think I should Forgive, sounds good.
